School evacuated due to bomb scare; no threat found

Due to a note stating that there was a bomb in the school, students at Ashkar Elementary School were moved to Hughesville High School Friday afternoon.

According to District Superintendent Michael Pawlik, parents were immediately notified about the situation and the district took every precaution to insure the safety of the students.

Pawlik said authorities were contacted and State Police bomb-sniffing dogs were brought to the school, but found no evidence of a bomb.

He said the district is in the process of determining who placed the note in the building.
