GOP candidates for prothonotary, treasurer, register and recorder picked

Unofficial election tallies show the following results for the Lycoming County row offices:

For prothonotary, Thomas D. Heap got the Republican nod with 7,159 votes, or 42.8 percent of the total votes.

Kathy Probst received 6,893 votes while Tammy Stidfole received 2,625.

There were 51 write-ins on the Republican ballot.

Sole Democrat Jeni Nash-Harvey received 4,407 votes.

There were 215 write-ins on the Democratic ballot.

For register and recorder, Dave Huffman received 14,296 votes, or 91.6 percent of the total votes.

Incumbent Kathy Rinehart was removed from the ballot prior to the primary for lack of required signatures and ran for the nomination as a write-in candidate.

There were 1,309 write-ins on the Republican ballot. There were 442 write-ins on the Democratic ballot.

For treasurer, Cindy S. Newcomer received 12,089 votes, or 74.4 percent of the total votes.

Susan M. Satteson came in with 4,120 votes.

There were 33 write-ins on the Republican ballot.

There were 270 write-ins on the Democratic ballot.

Whether Huffman or Newcomer will run opposed in the November general election will become clear once Voter Services announces the official tallies, which will include write-in votes. That count is expected to start later in the week.
