Halloween carnival organizers aren’t afraid of bad weather
The Williamsport Recreation Commission Monday finalized its plans for a city Halloween Carnival at the Liberty Arena on the turf at the indoor facility, which means it is out of any inclement weather than may or may not happen.
The carnival event is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 19, said Shawn Washington, city recreation director.
There’s no “fear” of the weather because the event is inside the arena.
Volunteers are needed to help staff the many stations, with as many as 18 separate games to be available to play, including a possible simulated zombie game.
Efforts have been made to speak to fraternities at Pennsylvania College of Technology and Lycoming College to volunteer to pack “goodie” bags prior to the carnival.
Activities at the carnival include face painting, pumpkin giveaways and plenty of refreshments and treats to go around.
Kayla Drummond, an assistant with the recreation department, said those who are able to donate, such as individuals and businesses, may contact the department at 570-327-7510.
It is a Saturday evening, so parking is available outside of the arena and throughout the downtown area, according to the commission.
