Luther M. Ertel

Luther M. Ertel, 81, of South Williamsport, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Sycamore Manor Health Center.

He was born June 1, 1931, in Williamsport. He was the son of Luther T. and O’Linde N. Ertel.

Luther was a 1949 graduate of South Williamsport High School and a 1954 graduate of Bucknell University.

He was a member of New Covenant United Church of Christ.

Luther was the owner of Nippon Panel Company in South Williamsport for 46 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of AAA North Penn Branch as well as a past President of the South Williamsport Lions Club.

Mr. Ertel served as President of the Lycoming County Blind Association, was a lifelong member of the Fraternity of Masons Ivy Lodge 397 and proudly served on the South Williamsport School District Board of Education.

Luther was happily married to his wife Diane for 56 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Drew, South Williamsport and a daughter, Dana (Jim) of Moorestown, N.J. He was a loving grandfather to four grandchildren, Paige, James, Shea and Luke, his name sake.

Relatives and friends are invited to Luther’s Life Celebration service 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 E. Third St., with Rev. Karin Stork-Whitson officiating. Interment will be held at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to New Covenant United Church of Christ or the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are being handled by the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd., “A Life Celebration Home,” 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, Pa.
