Betty E. Smith
Betty E. Smith, 84, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at ManorCare North Nursing.
She was born July 1, 1928, in East Stroudsburg, the daughter of Harry F. and Marion D. (Handylong) Williams.
Betty was married to the late William Robert Smith Sr. who passed in 1977.
She was an avid bingo player and was known to be seen at the St. Joseph the Worker Parish every Monday playing bingo.
Betty loved to crochet, play cards and ride on her grandson’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle and was given a special ride to celebrate her 80th birthday.
She is survived by her daughters, Carla C. (Harry) Folweiler, Brenda L. Engel, both of Williamsport, Joan (Donald) Forman of Greenville, S.C., Beverly J. (Joseph) Diehl of Thomasville, Pa., and Betty M. (Alvin) Ivins of Saylorsburg, Pa.; 23 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by a son, William R. Smith Jr. in 2009; a daughter, Marion Parsons; two brothers, Horace and Edwin Williams; two sisters, Margaret Eddinger and Lucy Serfass; and a grandson, Barry K. Parsons.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
Relatives and friends are invited to Betty’s Life Celebration service 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd., “A Life Celebration Home,” 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.
