Christy A. Haberstroh

Christy A. Haberstroh, 57, of 2209 Linn St., died Friday, March 22, 2013, at her home, following a tough battle with breast cancer which she fought admirably to the end.

Christy and her husband, Christopher C. Haberstroh, celebrated their 36th anniversary on August 21 and renewed their vows on their 25th wedding anniversary.

Christy was the Administrative Assistant to the Mayor of Williamsport and had worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance for 33 years. She was dedicated to the city and strove to make the city of Williamsport a better place. She started the city’s Easter egg hunt in Brandon Park, was a founder and event coordinator of the Williamsport Welcomes the World parade and coordinated the Christmas Parade. She created the city’s recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which was named in her honor and was on the committee for the Williamsport Mounted Police.

Christy was a member of St. John’s-Newberry United Methodist Church and the Newberry Lioness Club, secretary of the Newberry Crime Commission, the United Way Representative for the city of Williamsport, chair of the city hall employee blood drive, and was active with the Relay for Life “Guys n Gals” team. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Christy always had a willing ear and a smile for everyone.

Born Aug. 10, 1955, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Dalbys L. Sr. and Georgine L. Hill Kreisher.

Surviving besides her husband are a son, Chad C. (Rebecca) and their son Taylor; a daughter, Colleen L. Haberstroh and her son Delantae, all of Williamsport; and two brothers, Dalbys L. (Kathleen) Kreisher Jr. of Linden, and Colt C. (Ellen) Kreisher of Muncy.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
