Donald ‘Campy’ Eugene Camp
Donald “Campy” Eugene Camp, 80, of Covington, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Bath VA Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 30, 1932, in Waterbury, Conn., he was the son of the late Eugene Miles Camp and Ruth Woodley Camp.
On June 26, 1954, he married the former Caroline Honeymann.
He was an U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
He retired from Washington National Insurance.
He was a member of The First United Methodist Church, Blossburg, William B. Wilson American Legion Post No. 572, Blossburg, and the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Camp along with his wife Caroline was foster parents to 33 children. He also enjoyed camping.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Caroline, Covington, are his children, Eugene Donald (Barbara) Camp, Auburn, Maine, Cynthia (Mike) Todd, Montgomery, Thomas (Judy) Camp, Poquoson, Va., Sally (Bill) Faughnan, Covington, James Camp, Linden, and Barbara (Tony) Cruz, Moosic. Also surviving are his grandchildren, William Faughnan Jr., Robert Faughnan, Michael Todd Jr., Andrea Todd, Jessica Todd, Thomas Camp Jr., Sarah Fordham, Matthew Camp; six great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Wilfred “Sonny” Camp. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Friends will be received Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, Blossburg, from 10 to 11 a.m., services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michele Somerville, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Bath National Cemetery.
