Ruth M. Curchoe

Ruth M. Curchoe, 100, formerly of Washington Blvd., passed away peacefully at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville, on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.

Ruth was born in South Williamsport, on Sept. 5, 1912, a daughter of Albert Kelley and Margaret Schliebner. In 1920, she was adopted and raised by Otto and Lizzie Lambert Schliebner.

She was a life-long member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, a member of Divine Providence Hospital auxiliary and the Top of the Hill Club. During World War II, she was active in the USO.

Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, latch- hooking rugs and embroidery.

Her and her husband, John C. Curchoe, were married by Rev. Bernard Borr on Nov. 26, 1936, at St. Boniface Church. John died July 29, 1983.

Surviving are two daughters, Marion F. Curchoe, of South Williamsport, and Ruth M. Curchoe, of Hilton, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Funk, of Alabama, and Robert (Kristin) Frace, of N.Y.; and two great-grandchildren, Jamie Funk and Dylan Frace.

The family will receive friends at the church lounge from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., with her pastor, Msgr. Stephen D. McGough, officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
