Jack L. Lundy

Jack L. Lundy, 87, of 440 Tinsman Ave., died on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at home. He and his wife, the former Muriel A. Haas, celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on October 31.

Jack was born on July 29, 1925, in Williamsport and was the son of Virginia Mae Lundy Straw.

Jack was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He worked for the Yellow Cab Company as a dispatcher until 1983 and then worked for Lycoming College in their maintenance department. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he served on several committees and loved his church family. Jack was known for his kindness to anyone who needed help. Jack was an avid fisherman, loved to cook and bake, taught himself to play the guitar, and loved all of his K-9 companions through the years. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army under Gen. Patton in the European Theater.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kirt (Donna) Lundy, Plantsville, Conn.; three granddaughters, Erin Murphy, Shannon Strothers, Leah Hawk; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Hawk.

Memorial services will be at noon on Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Bethel United Methodist Church, 717 Kimble Hill Road, Williamsport, with Pastors Katherine Behrens and Jerry Cline officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the service to follow.

The family will provide flowers and suggest memorial contributions in Jack’s name be made to the Bethel Church or to the Lycoming County SPCA.
