Kristen Joy Bower

Kristen Joy Bower, 31, died unexpectedly while sleeping early Tuesday afternoon, April 9, 2013, at her home in Valrico, Fla. Born in Williamsport on July 19, 1981, she was the daughter of Harold Eugene Jr. and Cheryl Mae Green Bower formerly of Cogan Station. Her brother and best friend, Andrew Zachary Bower, preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2011.

In 1998, Kristen received her Higher School Certificate from Killarney Heights Public School near Sydney, Australia. After her family returned to the United States, she worked in various office clerical and medical billing positions in the Tampa Bay area. Kristen enjoyed a wide circle of friends and soon “owned” any room she entered. In the past ten months since the birth of her child, her beautiful daughter, Chloe, was the center of her life.

Surviving, in addition to her daughter, Chloe, and her parents of Valrico, Fla., are Kristen’s grandparents, Harold Sr. and Rosanna Wright Bower, of Cogan Station, and uncles, Steven D. Bower (Mary Foster) of Rose Valley and Ted W. Green (Judy Moore) of Cogan Station. Kristen is also survived by her uncle, Brian S. Bower Sr. (Bernadette Stafford) of Bethel, and aunt, Lynn Bower Young (Raymond) of Greenville, S.C. Her two sisters also survive her, Heather Nichole Caine (Deon) of Summerville, S.C., and Melynda Anne Johnson (Christopher) of Riverview, Fla. Her nieces Emilee Dallas, Paige Dallas, Mariah Bower and Jeanah Johnson will miss her style and fashion tips, and her nephew, Elijah Johnson, her kind-hearted teasing.

At the convenience of the family, a private graveside service will be held at Blooming Grove Cemetery where Kristen’s cremains will be interred beside her dear brother, Andrew, and her maternal grandparents, Robert and Jean Beach Green, late of Cogan Station. The family suggests that anyone wishing to make a memorial tribute in Kristen’s name consider contributions to the Blooming Grove Historical Society.
