Marian D. Powers
Marian D. Powers, 85, formerly of West Water Street, Wellsboro, passed away April 19, 2013, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital.
She was the wife of William Powers, who preceded her in death Nov. 28, 2007. Marian was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Pine City, N.Y., the daughter of the late Anna Rebecka Watkins Haynes and Burr Haynes. She had been employed as a cook at the Wellsboro Middle School. In the past year, she resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Donald Buck, in Tioga, Pa. Marian loved to garden and enjoyed tending her house plants. She was a loving mom, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Allan Martino of Auburn, N.Y., Carol and Charles Wayne Diffenderfer III of Wellsboro, Deborah and Donald Buck of Tioga; six grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; two sisters, Margaret Stump, Ulster, Pa., Louise Statts, Wellsboro; and a brother, Robert Bowers, Wellsboro. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert W. and John W. Powers.
Friends and family are invited to Marian’s Life Celebration on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., “A Life Celebration Home,” 139 Main St., Wellsboro, PA 16901.
Funeral is Thursday, April 25, 2013, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Debbie Button officiating.
