Mary K. Cohick

Mary K. Cohick, 84, of Almond Street Commons, Williamsport, died Tuesday morning, April 9, 2013, in the ManorCare North Heath Center.

She was born June 29, 1928, in Williamsport, the daughter of William Young and the former Margaret Sheehee.

Mary K. was preceded in death by her husband, Kline W. Cohick, on May 15, 1982.

She graduated from Williamsport High School, was a member of the Church of St. Luke in Jersey Shore, a member of “Scrappy Ladies” and the Tiadaghton Quilt Guild. She was an avid reader, movie buff and supporter of the arts. In her early years, she dreamed of becoming an actress and moved to New York City to pursue her dream. She returned to Pennsylvania to marry her sweetheart and start a family.

Mary K. is survived by her children, Karen A. (Kurt) Kjelgaard of South Carolina, John P. (Sally) Cohick of Rauchtown and Margaret (Peg) C. Cohick of Williamsport; her sister, Peg (John) Shughrou of Murrieta, Calif.; grandchildren, Michael Cohick, Lori (Dave) Gunnsallus, Jennifer and Kyle Kjelgaard; and a great-grandson, Emery Gunnsallus.

Mary K. was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew K. Cohick and a brother, Jack Young.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Saturday until time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. The Rev. Kerry Aucker will officiate. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in her name to the James V. Brown Library (bookmobile), 19 E. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
