Thomas King, 73, of Montoursville, formerly of Cogan Station, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at home after a long illness.
Born May 26, 1939, he was the son of the late Lewis and Kathleen (Stabley) King. He married Frances (Fran) E. Mosseaux and they would have celebrated 53 years together on August 6, having been together since ninth grade.
Tom graduated from Williamsport High School and attended Lycoming College. After 30 years as a driver and a manager with UPS, Tom retired and became a snowbird, spending half the year with his wife at their home in Bradenton, Fla. Tom enjoyed the last 18 years, watching his three grandsons grow, enjoying time with family and friends, playing golf, fishing (at the Calabogie Lodge in Canada) and gardening. In the past few years, one of Tom’s favorite summer trips was to Calabogie Lodge with his grandsons, where they learned to fillet a fish, drive a boat and life lessons from Poppop.
Through the years, Tom was a member of various bowling leagues, an amateur trap shooter, a fisherman, a hunter, an avid Penn State fan, a religious education teacher at the former Ascension Parish, a member of the Wynding Brook Golf Club, Milton, and Peridia Golf & Country Club, Bradenton, Fla. Most of all, Tom was a devoted husband, father and Poppop.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Staci K. Stone (Jamey), of Williamsport, Kelli A. Lozada (Alex), of Wallingford, Conn., and Rachelle M. Poust (Dan), of New Oxford; three grandsons, Thomas P., Nolan D. and Matthew F., sons of Rachelle and Dan; two sister-in-laws, Dona Riefsynder (David), of New Port Richey, and Kate Roan (Richard); two brothers-in-law, Bud Rich, of Harrisburg and James Redmond, of Elizabeth, Colo.; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Rich and sister-in-law, Vonda (Bo) Redmond.
A Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Our Lady of Lourdes, 800 Mulberry St., Montoursville, with Rev John Manno officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tom’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
