Allan R. Yufer
Allan R. Yufer, 65, of 229 S. Chestnut St., Mill Hall, went to Heaven to be with the Lord on May 14, 2013, at the Geisinger Medical Center with his loving family at his side. He was born May 4, 1948, in Chicago, Ill., to the late John H. and Katherine Allen Yufer.
On July 24, 1976, in Everett, Mass., he married Patricia Dorney, who survives at home.
Allan served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1969-1973.
Allan was a Registered Nurse who had worked primarily in the Emergency Room at Lock Haven, Williamsport and Jersey Shore Hospitals. He previously had worked at Ames Dept. Store and Piper Aircraft.
Allan was a former member of the Vol. Fire Co. of Mill Hall and was the first EMT certified in that fire company. He was a member of the Mill Hall United Methodist Church and a member of the Beech Creek Watershed Assoc. In his younger years, he loved to canoe, ride his motorcycle, hike, hunt and fish. Allan enjoyed camping with his family and traveling to Disney World, the Grand Canyon, and Acadia National Park. In recent years, he and his wife visited Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone National Park and Alaska. They enjoyed visiting friends and relatives in Massachusetts and Maine, especially his Coast Guard buddies, Ray and Steve. Allan was a wonderful role model to his sons and was so proud that both of them became Eagle Scouts.
Allan’s quiet presence will be terribly missed by his family, friends and three dogs, Cooter, Duke and Maya, who were his constant companions and often surrounded him when he took his afternoon naps.
He was a 1966 graduate of the Bald Eagle Nittany High School and received an associate degree in computer programming from Williamsport Area Community College. Allan graduated from the Geisinger School of Nursing in 1982.
He is survived by two sons, Jason A. Yufer and Nathan A. Yufer, both of Mill Hall; and one brother, William H. (Jean) Yufer, Carlisle, Pa.
