Edith Norma Franzen
Norma Franzen, 95 of South Williamsport, Pa., died on Friday, May 18, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center, Williamsport, Pa.
Born in Williamsport on April 27, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Max Ray and Edith Florence (Clust) Burkhart.
Norma was a lifetime member and attendee of South Williamsport United Methodist Church.
Norma attended the South Williamsport High School and was a graduate of the 1935 class. She then attended the Mansfield State Teachers College from where she obtained her bachelor and master degrees. Norma worked as an educator for South Williamsport Area School District from where she retired in 1981. Teaching in the public school and in Sunday school classes of her church were her passion.
Norma was married to Ragnar Walden (Tex) Franzen on Oct. 14, 1941. Together they shared 65 years of marriage. Norma traveled as a naval wife and they traveled together extensively after their retirements.
Norma is survived by her three children, R.W. (Rusty) Franzen Jr. and his wife, Eileen, of Cogan Station; Norma Louise (Flicka) Losch and her husband, Joseph, of South Williamsport and Nita Andrea Fennell and her husband, Francis, of Westminster, Md. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Lucas Franzen (Diane), of DuBoistown; Jay Franzen (Andrea), of Cogan Station; Elizabeth Whitnack (David), of Williamsport; Matthew Losch (Kanda), of Pottstown, Pa.; Mandy Carroll (Robert), Carrollton, Ga.; Brett Fennell (Jennifer), of Atlanta, Ga.; Heather Burker (Burr), of Westminster, Md.; and Stacey Crilly (Kenneth), of Westminster, Md.; 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, South Williamsport, Pa.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Mound section of Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.
The family will provide the flowers.
