Myron R. ‘Red’ Ryder

Myron R. “Red” Ryder, 86, of Muncy, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013, in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Born in Watsontown, Northumberland County, on Friday, Sept. 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Edward and Lillian (Kressler) Ryder.

Myron honorably served during the World War II with the U.S. Army. He was retired from the former GTE Sylvania, at Muncy. Earlier in life, he had been employed in farming and had also been the proprietor of the East End Grocery Store, at Muncy, which he later operated as a flea market/antique store.

Red enjoyed woodworking, gardening and the companionship of his dog, Willow.

Myron is survived by five nieces and nephews, Randy R. (Sheri) Ryder, of Highland, Calif., Paula A. (Marty) McCabe, of Hughesville, Edward (Marcia) Hoffman, of Wis., Carol (Robert) Kilpatrick, of Williamsport, Mitchell Hoffman, of Williamsport; and one sister-in-law, Loretta N. Ryder, of Muncy. He is also survived by 11 great-nieces and nephews. Myron was preceded in death by his sister, Celia Hoffman and his brother, Paul W. Ryder.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Interment will be in the Muncy Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the joint veterans organizations.
