Thomas G. Hoppes

Thomas G. Hoppes, 66, of Easton, Pa., formerly of Muncy and Clamtown, Pa., died May 20, 2013. in the St. Lukes Hospital, Bethlehem, Pa.

He was the husband of Bernadette R. “Kitty” (Barr) Hoppes, having celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary in December of 2012.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Dolores M. (Eberts) Hoppes. He was a first line supervisor for the P.P.L. Electric Co., Allentown, Pa., for 37 years retiring in 2007.

He was a 1964 Graduate of the Tamaqua Area High School. Tom honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Ben Salem U.C.C. Church, Lehighton, Pa. He was also a life member of V.F.W. Post 5069 of Andreas, Pa.; a member of Loyal Order of Moose, Muncy Valley, Pa.; a Trophy Life Member of the North American Hunting Club; as well as a member of the Tamaqua Lodge No. 238 F.&A.M. and the Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown, Pa.

Survivors besides his wife includes his daughter, Melissa S. Hoppes, Columbus, Ohio; a step-son, Roger Kitchen of Stroudsburg, Pa.; a brother, James Phile, and his wife Patsy of Drums, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, he was also predeceased by his son, Christopher Hoppes.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Bensalem U.C.C. Church, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton, PA 18235, with a calling hour beginning at 10 a.m. Rev. Michael McGowan, officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contribution in his memory be made to the Ben Salem U.C.C. Building Fund, sent to the above church address. The Nester Funeral Home-New Tripoli, Pa. is in charge of the arrangements.
