Arthur W. Cipriany

Arthur W. Cipriany, 84, of Jersey Shore, Pa., passed away on Thursday, July 25 at Westchester Medical Center in New York after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Clarksburg, Pa., on July 3, 1929, the son of Clara Zamberlan and Joseph Cipriany. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lovice Mabel Heitz on Oct. 27, 1990. He was also preceded in death by his only son, Alan Arthur.

Art graduated from Elders Ridge High School, Apollo, Pa., in 1947. After attending Pennsylvania State University for a short time, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951. Following discharge in 1954, Art enrolled in the Temple University School of Pharmacy in Philadelphia.

In 1959, Arthur and his brother, Louis, purchased Lehman’s Pharmacy in Jersey Shore, Pa., and operated a successful business for over 35 years.

Art was a loved and respected member of his community. He was very active in many civic organizations including the Jersey Shore Community Pool Association, The JS Softball Association, The JS Elks, Nittany Lion Club member, and supporter of the JS Public Library.

Art was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his four daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Cipriany Dacko and Stan Dacko of Lebanon, Pa., Lori and Renato DiRusso of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., Janine and Christopher Reed of Orlando, Fla., and Angela and Justin Mahosky of Westminster, Md. Arthur was extremely proud of his eleven grandchildren, Christina, Elena, Laura, Thomas, and Daniel DiRusso, Emily and Sarah Dacko, Alyssa Reed and Evan, Alayna, and Brandon Mahosky.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore, Pa. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard. The Reverend Timothy Heitz will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in his name to the Jersey Shore Borough Pool Association, 232 Smith St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740, or the Jersey Shore Public Library, 110 Oliver St., Jersey Shore.
