Lois A. Heiges

Lois A. (Ruch) Heiges, 79, of Milton, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Kramm Health Care and Rehab, Milton.

She was married to George W. Heiges Sr., who survives, on Oct. 17, 1971. They celebrated 41 years as husband and wife.

Lois was born on Aug. 18, 1933, in Sunbury, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Derr) Ruch. She was a graduate of Sunbury High School. She had retired from the Milton High School Cafeteria in 1992. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Muncy and was an honorary life member of the Turbot Township Fire Co. where she was treasurer for 19 years and had also helped run the bingo events for 18 years with her husband.

In addition to her husband George, she is survived by one son, Ron A. Karschner and his life partner, Chuck Stiefel of Summerville, S.C.; one daughter, Cindy J. Hoffman and her companion, Larry Smith of Danville; three granddaughters, Lindsay M. Hoffman of Pittsburgh, Alisha Lotz of Winchester, Va. and Erin Karschner of Nashville, Tenn.; three step-grandchildren, Michael Magnetta of St. Petersburg, Fla., Stephanie Heiges of Anchorage, Alaska and Jaimie Heiges of New Orleans, La.; one step-great-granddaughter of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sisters, Peggy Musser of Sunbury, Linda Dreisbach of Shamokin and Connie Heffner of Sunbury; one step-son, George W. Heiges Jr. and his wife Kathy and one step-daughter, Fran Kay Tiesler and her husband Donald, all of Elimsport; one daughter-in-law, Patty Karschner of Montoursville and her beloved puppy “Reo.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, David and William Ruch and two sisters, Gladys Bastress and Jean Hornberger.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
