Ruth K. Moser

Ruth. K. Moser, 96, a former resident of McEwensville, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Riverwoods, Lewisburg, where she had been residing since 2010. She had formerly lived at River View Manor since Oct. 2006.

Born July 24, 1917, in Lewis Township, Northumberland County, she was the daughter of the late William O. and Blanche (Bryson) Kramm. On July 24, 1939, she married Harold T. Moser at St. John’s United Church of Christ in McEwensville. They celebrated 68 years of marriage until his death on Aug. 10, 2007.

She was a 1935 graduate of the Turbotville High School and then attended the Bloomsburg State Teachers College.

Mrs. Moser taught elementary school for 43 years, retiring in June 1982 from the Warrior Run School District. She began teaching in 1937 at the McEwensville school, filling a position from which her mother, Blanche, resigned so that Ruth could have the job. She and her mother both later moved to the former Eighth Street School in Watsontown until it was destroyed by a fire. Ruth then spent her remaining teaching years at the Watsontown Elementary School.

She was very actively involved with the Montgomery House Library, McEwensville, a charter and active member of the Warrior Run Fort Freeland Heritage Society, a member of the McEwensville Garden Club, and St. John’s United Church of Christ, McEwensville. She was also a lifetime member of PASR (Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees).

She and her husband were proud to have played a large role in the construction of the M&F Sports Complex during the 1980s. Today it is the Northumberland County Recreation Complex and is dedicated to the memory of their son, Tom.

Surviving are two grandchildren and their spouses, Todd P. and Edie A. Moser and Melissa L. and Kieran V Pelletier, all of Turbotville; four great-grandchildren, Alexa E. Moser, Ryan M., Connor T., and Emily M. Pelletier; a sister Jane Shuman of Watsontown; a sister-in-law, Gladys Durlin of Turbotville and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death, besides her husband, was her only son, Thomas L. Moser who died Oct. 25, 1998.

Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, with the Rev. A. Bruce Amme officiating. Burial will follow in the Presbyterian Cemetery, McEwensville.
