Ruth V. Swartz Watkins

Ruth V. Watkins, 97, former long-time resident of Williamsport and recent resident of the Heirloom Inn, Price, Utah, went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on July 2, 2013.

One of fourteen children, she was born Ruth Van Scoyoc Swartz, in Chester Hill, Pa., on March 17, 1916, to Maria Botwright and John Robert Swartz. She was married 49 years to John Edward Watkins, who predeceased her, as did her seven brothers and six sisters. Ruth was an active member of the Newberry Church of Christ and the Gardenview Church of Christ, both in Williamsport. She enjoyed her church family, singing in the choir and was an avid reader. In 2003, Ruth moved from her home in Williamsport to be with her children in Nevada, Idaho and Utah. She dearly loved spending time with her family and traveling the western states.

Surviving Ruth are children, John Robert Watkins (Christine) of Price, Utah, James Edmund Watkins (Valerie) of Grangeville, Idaho and Sue Ellen Berfield (Larry) of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren, Timothy Alan Berfield (Jamie) of Reno, Nev., Todd Elliot Berfield (Stacey) of Las Vegas, Nev., Douglas Adam Watkins (Andrea) of Denver, Colo. and Justin Lee Watkins (Marni) of Las Vegas, Nev. and five great-grandchildren, Mason Daniel and Kyle James Berfield, Adyson Nicole, Sydney Leigh and Grayson James Watkins.

The Heritage Funeral Home of Huntington, Utah, is handling the arrangements with the final resting place to be the Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport. A memorial service will be scheduled by the family at a later date.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Heritage Funeral Home, Symbii Hospice Services and the Heirloom Inn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Ruth’s honor. Psalms 23.
