Wilson J. Foreman
Wilson J. Foreman, 83, of Nottingham Village, formerly of Turbotville and Selinsgrove, passed away at 4:38 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at the Village.
He was born June 28, 1930, in Selinsgrove, a son of the late Wilson and Jennie M. (Goodman) Foreman. On June 15, 1956, he married the former Gladys V. Harris, who preceded him in death on May 28, 2012. In 1976, the couple moved from Selinsgrove to the Turbotville area.
Wilson was a 1949 graduate of Selinsgrove High School. He was a member of the first Selinsgrove High School team to beat Sunbury High School, and he scored two touchdowns during the game.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Air Force.
Wilson had been employed for 35 years at TRW, later Textron, in Danville. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Selinsgrove.
He was an avid turkey hunter, and he also enjoyed hunting deer and fishing and was an accomplished photographer. He enjoyed collecting arrowheads and studying the history of Penns Creek and the canal and the Penns Creek Massacre. He recounted watching old flathead racers at the Selinsgrove Raceway in the 1950s.
While in Selinsgrove, he sold produce from his truck patch and continued to sell sweet corn after moving to Turbotville.
Wilson always kept busy. He enjoyed working and was proud of what he attained in his lifetime.
Surviving are two sons, Joey Foreman and his wife, Cathy, and Tim Foreman and his companion, Sheryl Rathfon, all of Selinsgrove; one daughter, Kathy Foreman and her fiance, Wayne E. Myers, of Muncy; four grandchildren, Tim, Tom, Zack and Cierra Foreman; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Breanna; one sister, Anna Fausey, of Hummels Wharf; and two brothers, Donald and Clair Foreman, both of Selinsgrove.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Foreman, and one sister, Emma Jane Reeder.
Visitors will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 1 p.m. with SUN Home Hospice Chaplain James Taylor officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
