Ettore D’Alena, 93, of Williamsport, died peacefully at home on Sept. 19, 2013, while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Terracina, Italy, on Oct. 4, 1919, a son of Raffaele and Maria Zannella D’Alena.
Ettore retired from Divine Providence Hospital. He was a lifelong member of the former Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church and served in the Italian Air Force during World War II.
He and his wife, the former Adalgisa DiGirolamo, were married in Terracina, Italy, and observed their 70th wedding anniversary on July 25, 2013.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Rita (Harry) Dake, of Williamsport, Raffaele (Patricia) D’Alena, of Linden, Anna (Keith) Burk, of Loyalsock Township, Frank (Terry) D’Alena, of Trout Run, Teresa (Jim) Stoner, of Cogan Station; son-in-law Joseph DiStasi, of Williamsport; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dolly (Samuel) Yoder, of Williamsport.
A daughter, Norma DiStasi; brother, Pierino D’Alena; and a sister, Olga Santomarco, preceeded her in death.
The family will receive family and friends at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St. from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Road, with the Rev. Paul C. Fontanella officiating with burial to follow at Wildwood Cemetery.
