LaRue D. Herriman

LaRue D. Herriman, 85, of Westfield, formerly of Hughesville, died Sept. 10, 2013, at Broad Acres Health and Rehab Center, Wellsboro. He was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Davidson Township, Sullivan County, a son of the late George and Elizabeth (Watts) Herriman. Jan. 5, 1950, he married the late Geraldine M. Hunter, who died in 2002.

He was a member of the Tivoli United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee, loved making peanut butter eggs and cutting the grass. He graduated from the former Sonestown High School, Class of 1945. In 1990, he retired from Andritz Sprout-Bauer, Muncy, after over twenty years of service. Earlier in life, he worked for Modecraft, Muncy, and delivered coal for Buck Lumber, Hughesville. LaRue also enjoyed working on cars, carpentry and baking.

He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (Leonard) Klingman, of Westfield; granddaughter, Kelly Little and great-grandson, Cody Little, both of Hughesville.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he was preceded in death by a sister Bernadine Connard.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday in the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, by Pastor Ray Mummert. The interment will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery, Nordmont. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 p.m. till the time of service.
