Watson E. Hill

Watson E. Hill, 90, of Williamsport, died Sept. 13, 2013, at the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital.

Born March 15, 1923, in Barbours, Pa., at the Scaife homestead, he was a son to the late Edgar F. and Bessie Mae (Scaife) Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. (Simmers) Hill; a sister, Gertrude Blatchley; and two brothers, Edgar F Hill Jr., and George A. Hill.

Watson was a graduate of Montoursville High School and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Early in his career he was a carpenter with his father and grandfather. Later, he operated the Edgar F. Hill Coal Company. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a parts manager, low-boy operator, and carpenter for the George E. Logue Company.

Surviving is a daughter, Nancy J. (Joseph) Mihalo, of Montoursville; a son, John C. Hill, of Williamsport; two grandchildren, Christine (Paul) Katzmaier, of Montoursville and Matthew Spencer (Taryn) Hill, of Loyalsock; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Shirley Flickenger, of Glasgow, Ky. and Catherine Orso, of Williamsport, and two special sister-in-laws, Ernestine Hill Seitzinger, of Montoursville and Marilyn Hill Jourdan, of Nebraska.

Services will be private in Montoursville Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County.
