Florence E. Kuna

Florence E. “Betty” Kuna, 80, of Williamsport, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at her home.

Born May 24, 1933, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Kathryn F. (Hardy) Helm. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph J. Kuna Sr. in 1986.

Betty retired from GTE Sylvania after 33 years. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, formerly Holy Rosary Church, where she was president of Altar and Rosary Society of Holy Rosary for over 20 years. She was very devoted to her religious life and her Bible study group. Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed entertaining company at her home and being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her three children, Joseph J. Kuna Jr. (Kimberly), of Williamsport, Mary L. Troutman, of Williamsport, and Jacqueline K. Henderson (Larry), of Utah; ten grandchildren, Christopher, Jason (Kerra), Brian (Jillian), Vanessa, Elizabeth, Ronald, Derrick, Kathleen, Joseph III, and Matthew; two great-grandchildren, Lea and John; one great-great-grandchild, Sophia; a brother, Chester Eugene Helm (Joan), of South Williamsport; and a sister-in-law, Constance L. Helm of Ohio.

In addition to her husband, Betty was predeceased by eight siblings, William, Earl, Jack, Richard, Gerry Tom, Permella Tabler, and Doris Miller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with a Rosary service starting at 7:30 p.m.
