George P. Patt
George P. Patt, 77, of Wellsboro, passed away on Oct. 5, 2013, at Towanda Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Metarko.
George was born April 8, 1936, to Joseph L. and Clara Furmanek Patt, and was raised on the family farm in Antrim, Pa. A graduate of Wellsboro High School and the Orra Jean Barber School in Erie, Mr. Patt served the Wellsboro community as a barber for many years. George was also a surveyor, and worked for the Army Corp.of Engineers on the Tioga-Hammond Dam project, and for Boyer Kantz. He was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Wellsboro, the Knights of Columbus, the Wellsboro Moose and the Wellsboro VFW, and an active member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed playing the guitar and violin, and performed as a drummer with The Mudcats. An Army veteran, Mr. Patt served his country during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by three daughters, Theresa (Mike) Tokarz, of Wellsboro, Sharon (Dr. Robert) Bair, of Wellsboro, and Janette (Rick) Rawson, of England; two brothers, Paul (Marion) Patt, and Marty (Naomi) Patt, both of Wellsboro; two sisters, Mary Cleveland and Teresa Kennedy, also of Wellsboro; seven grandchildren, Steven, Nathan, Evan, and Kristen Bair, Adam Rawson, Gregory (Amee’) Collins, and Justin (Emily Franklin) Fassett; and one great-grandson, Logan Collins. Mr. Patt was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Theodore (Ted) Patt; and three sisters, Lenora (Patsy) Bowers, Catherine Miller, and Josephine Patt.
Friends and family are invited to George’s Life Celebration Thursday Oct. 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, “A Life Celebration Home,” 139 Main St. Wellsboro, and to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday Oct. 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Catholic Church Central Avenue Wellsboro. Burial to follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.
