Gilbert M. ‘Guy’ Howard

Gilbert M. “Guy” Howard, 86, formerly of Lycoming Creek Road, Williamsport, died Wednesday Oct. 23, 2013, at Rose View Center.

Guy was born in Williamsport on May 23, 1927, a son of Oradell and Sylvia Eck Howard.

In his earlier years he was employed as a roofer and later his was owner and operator of Mr. D Pest Control.

He was a member of VFW Post 7863 DuBoistown, American Legion Garrett-Cochran Post 1, 40 & 8, Marine Corps League Deer x-ing detachment where he served as a former commandant, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 145, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge 973, Young Men’s Democratic Club, Red Run Rod and Gun Club, Polish Club and many more.

Guy enjoyed playing guitar, listening to music, especially Hank Williams Sr., hunting and fishing.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served during World War II.

His first wife Mazie and his second wife of 40 years Jean Stover Flick preceded him in death.

Surviving are his children, Guy (Patricia) Howard of Hughesville, Gill (Kathy) Howard of Wichita Falls, Texas, Clinton “Hank” Howard of Williamsport, Robert Flick of Sherman Dale, Charles Flick of Montgomery, Margaret “Maggie” (Jamie) Miller of South Williamsport, Betsy (Ralph) Jones of Stillwater; 12 grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren; two brothers Neil (Bev) Howard of Williamsport and Clint (Birdie) Howard of Coalport.

In addition to his parents and wives, 10 brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 East Third St. Williamsport from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. J. Morris Smith officiating.

Burial at Wildwood Cemetery will follow with full military honors provided by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County.
