John A. ‘Jack’ Fisher
Following about two months of declining health, the Lord called home John A. “Jack” Fisher on Oct. 16, 2013, with his family at his side at the Cottingham Hospice House, Seneca, S.C.
Jack was born in Williamsport to Adam Q. and Nellie Guthrie Fisher on Aug. 19, 1921. Jack was a branch manager with Westinghouse Electric for 35 years in Virginia Beach, Va., Reading and Williamsport. He was also owner and operator of Central Pennsylvania Oil Company, Muncy, for 10 years. In his younger years he coached Little League, was a Boy Scout Leader and one of the initial organizers of the Loyalsock Sportsman’s Club, Montoursville. He loved to hunt, shoot skeet, play golf, tennis and downhill ski. Another favorite activity was raising various hunting dogs. In his later years, he spent many days gardening with his dog, Fritz, a Schnauzer, by his side.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jane Ayers Fisher, of 14 years; daughter, Suzanne Blank, of Cogan Station; son, Mike Fisher and daughter-in-law, Pamela, of Mifflinburg; grandchildren, Christopher and Andrew Fisher, Jennifer Vasile, Summer Johnson, and LSSR Levi Blank; great-grandchildren, Elijah Johnson, Dorrian Vasile; and a step-great-grandson, Noah Strausser Blank.
Preceding him in death was a brother, James Fisher; half-brothers, Malcolm and Kenneth Rhone; first wife, Edith Clemens Fisher and second wife, Fay Heiter Fisher.
A memorial service will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, 700 Fairview Drive, Montoursville, on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at 11 a.m.
