Virginia Cheesman Mollenkopf

Virginia Cheesman Mollenkopf, 100, of 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport, Md., passed away, Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at her home.

Born Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1913, in Newark, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Paul M. Cheesman and the late Emma (Weber) Cheesman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter D. Mollenkopf, in 1997.

She graduated from Lock Haven University, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau. In her professional years, she was District Director of Lycoming County Girl Scouts. She was a member of the Women’s Club, and was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine P. Tischer, of Hagerstown, Md.; son, W. Frederick Plankenhorn, of Irving, Texas; sister, Lois Galetti, of Livermore, Calif.; grandchildren, Brian Plankenhorn, of Hurst, Texas, Michael Plankenhorn of Hurst, Texas, Tracy Tischer, of Annapolis, Md., Matthew Tischer, of Hagerstown; great-grandchildren MacKenzie Plankenhorn, of Hurst, Texas, Christian Plankenhorn, of Hurst, Texas, Adam Plankenhorn, Grace Plankenhorn, Christine Pinto, and Summer Pinto.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Rachel Kauffman; brother, Paul Cheesman; grandson, David Plankenhorn; and former husband William F. Plankenhorn.

Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, Md., with the Rev. Douglas Kinney officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, from 10 to 11 a.m.

A special memorial service will be held for the friends at Homewood on Wed. 18, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the Homewood Chapel with Pastor Jeff Shull officiating.

Interment will be at the Schenck’s Cemetery, Howard, Pa.
