Anna Bitner, 83, of Williamsport, passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of Fred and Anna Steigerwald Nestad.
Anna was a member of New Covenant United Church of Christ and its choir. She loved playing BINGO and spending time with her family.
Anna was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Clymer E. Bitner; a grandson, Donald “Chip” Treese; brothers, Fred Jr., Edward, and Richard; and sisters, Esther Warren, Lydia Totulis, and Donna Weikum.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Robin) Bitner and Danny Bitner, both of Pasadena, Md., and Ronald Bitner, of Baltimore, Md.; daughters, Judy (Thomas) Kuhns, of Montoursville, Kathy (Donald) Treese, of Pasadena, Md., Colleen Bitner, of Williamsport, and Tammy (David) Hart, of Proctor; brothers, Richard Fritz, of Ill., and Gene Fritz, of Mich.; sister, Joyce (Thomas) Furtney, of Wood Ridge, Ill; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at the New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 E. Third St., with the Rev. Karin Stork-Whitson and Lay Minister Bonni Lucas officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either the Journey House, c/o New Covenant United Church of Christ, or to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Rd., Williamsport, Pa. 17701. Arrangements are by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
