Bernard F. Wetzel
Bernard F. “Bernie” Wetzel, 87, of Bath, N.Y., passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, N.Y.
Born in Williamsport on April 3, 1926, he was a son of the late Edward and Rose Gramlich Wetzel.
During his younger years he was involved with sports, and as he became older was an avid fan, especially a fan of NASCAR and Dale Jarrett.
Upon graduation from Williamsport High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served three years during World War II. He was a carpenter by trade.
Surviving is a brother, Richard (June) Wetzel; three sisters, Cecilia Wolf, Joan Grissinger, and Veronica (Gary) Keller, all of Williamsport; also surviving are seven nephews and four nieces.
The will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
