Ted Steil

Our loved one, Ted Steil, began his journey to his heavenly home on Jan. 27, 2014. He passed away unexpectedly and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known him. His kindness and thoughtfulness will forever be a part of the memories that we hold in our hearts.

Born on April 5, 1956, Ted was the son of Theodore Edgar Steil Jr. and the late Jeanne Ditolla Steil of Fassett, Pa. He graduated from Troy Area High School, attended Bloomsburg University and graduated with an associate’s degree in radiography from Williamsport Area Community College. He was employed as a radiographer at Susquehanna Health for more than 30 years.

Ted and his wife, the former Nancy M. Hampton, would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Sept. 15, 2014. They shared a deep love for each other and were planning to renew and affirm their wedding vows on their anniversary.

He is survived by his father, Theodore Steil Jr.; brothers, William Steil and Michael Steil, all of North Carolina; sisters, Marie Zimmer and Kathleen Michaels, of Erynn, N.Y. and Suzanne VanWicklin, of Cape May, N.J.

Of Ted’s many nieces and nephews, he was especially close to Andrew Lukashunas, Nathan Lukashunas, Daniel Pratt, Christopher Pratt, Jennifer (Pratt) Wagner and Ryanne (Michaels) Sunquist.

Ted was an avid cat lover and rescued many cats through the years. He also helped the staff at LAPS with their yard and book sales, as well as spending time with the many cats at the shelter.

An ardent sports fan, Ted followed the Indianapolis Colts, Oklahoma Sooners, Penn State Nittany Lions, Baltimore Orioles and NASCAR. He enjoyed reading, watching “B movies” and going to yard sales with his sisters-in-law.
