David Rinehart Good

David Rinehart Good, 91, The Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg, formerly of Williamsport and Altoona, passed away Tuesday in Mechanicsburg after a brief illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of Robert P. and Fannie (Werking) Good. He was twice married, first to Flora Cardinal Heist in Altoona; she died Oct. 26, 1997. He then married Louise Miller.

Surviving are his wife of Charlotte, N.C.; five children: Dr. John A. and wife, Elizabeth, of Alexandria, Va., Susan G. Sedam and husband, Donald, of York, Dr. Elizabeth A., of Williamsport, Karen G. Welker and husband, Dennis, of Mechanicsburg and Steven E. and wife, Christine, of Williamsport; 11 grandchildren: Gillian C. Good, Laura P. Good, Christine S. Schwer, Chad R. Sedam, Kathryn S. Beddis, Luke J. Womer, Amanda E. Welker, Andrew D. Welker, Derek R. Good, Erin C. Good and Brent S. Good; and three great-grandchildren: Ryan J., Tyler R. and Emma E. Schwer.

He was preceded in death by a son, David R.; a daughter, Joan; five brothers: Joseph, John, George, Roy and Paul; and three sisters: Dorothy, Mary and Elizabeth.

David was a graduate of Altoona High School and attended Bucknell University before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served in Europe during World War II along with his brother, Paul. Three other brothers also served in World War II: George in the South Pacific, John in Africa and Roy, a pilot who was killed in a training accident. He was the owner of electric appliance distributors and Good Rambler Fiat Triumph in Williamsport.

David was a member of the Church of the Savior Lutheran in Williamsport and also belonged to the Globe Run Rod and Gun Club. He served on the board of directors of Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona, Pa., Pastor Wayne Ayer officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
