Ethel M. Lucas
Ethel M. Lucas, 93, of 824 Nicely Ave., Montoursville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at her home.
She was born April 26, 1920, in Williamsport, a daughter of Wellard and Lilly Swartz Guffy.
Ethel was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was also an avid bridge player.
She was predeceased by her husband, William M.; two sisters, Ruth Guffy and Ada Kaufman; and a brother, Wellard Guffy.
Ethel is survived by two sons, William (Cheryl) Lucas and John (Ellenita) Lucas, both of Loyalsock Township; three daughters, Connie (Stephen) Hiller, of Montoursville, Marianne (Gary) White, of Montoursville and Trudy (Thomas) Fields, of Leesburg, Va.; a sister, Pearl Colyer, of Williamsport; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lucas; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St., Montoursville, with Rev. John K. Manno as celebrant. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
