Grant W. Bachman

Grant W. Bachman, 80, of Williamsport, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born March 31, 1933, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late John E. Y. and Margaret (Conway) Bachman. He was married to the former Bernadine Shebest on Sept. 17, 1960, at Holy Rosary Church, celebrating 53 years together.

Grant was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, serving in the Korean War. He graduated from South Williamsport High School and Williamsport Technical Institute. He was a sheet metal worker for local Union No. 44 for over 40 years.

Grant was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and the VFW. He was a four year Varsity Letterman and an All-County Lineman for South Williamsport High School football. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and camping.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Susan M. Rodgers (Eric), of Mohnton, Michael J. Bachman (Cathy), of South Williamsport, John C. Bachman, of Sellersville, and Mary E. Aiello (Jeff), of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, and Brianne Rodgers, Isabella, Sydney, Grant, and Quinn Bachman, and Maggie, Logan, Abby, and Malley Aiello; three brothers, J. Wayne Bachman, of South Williamsport, Alan Bachman (Rose), of Beech Creek, and Gary Bachman (Sue), of Oval; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Brian Van Fossen officiating. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport, and 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church.
