George Raymond ‘Sonny’ Bressler II
George Raymond “Sonny” Bressler II, 82, of 500 Bennett St., Montoursville, passed away Saturday, April, 26, 2014, at The Gatehouse in Divine Providence Hospital. He was born March 26, 1932, in Williamsport, a son of Raymond James and Catherine Shemory Bressler.
Sonny retired as owner-operator for Bressler Plumbing and Heating Company. He was a member of Dietrick Lamade 755 F&AM, the Williamsport Consistory, the Repasz Band, and the Williamsport Imperial Teteque Band. Sonny was a Korean War veteran serving in the Navy. He enjoyed playing music, hunting, fishing trips to Canada and going to Penn State Football games. He also enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He was predeceased by his father, and his wife, the former Inez M. George.
Surviving in addition to his mother, of Montoursville is his son, Steven R. (Leslie) Bressler, of Montoursville; daughter, Brenda M. (Lance) Spitler, of Montoursville; grandchildren, Jeremy (Julie) Bressler, of Philadelphia, Amber (Keith) Wheeler, of Montoursville, Kassandra Spitler, of New Port, R.I., Marissa, Brianna and Lana Spitler, of Montoursville; and great-grandchildren, Gage, Eli, and Rachael.
The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St. Montoursville, with Pastor Rusty Wolfinger officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Bethel Church Cemetery, Unityville, with military honors accorded by the Lycoming County Korean War Veterans. Friends will be received on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
