Betty J. Persico
Betty J. Persico passed away on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2014, at her home near Palm Springs, Calif., following a stroke. Betty was born in Trout Run on Nov. 15, 1922, the only daughter of James W. and Florence M. Dawes. Following her graduation from high school, she was a member of the U.S. Signal Corps and then worked at Avco Lycoming.
Betty and her husband, Paul “Mike” Persico, left Pennsylvania for San Diego, Calif. Later they moved to their beloved desert, where they spent many years as full-time residents of Palm Springs. After Mike’s death in 2010, Betty and their daughter, Paula Tyler, remained in the Palm Springs area.
Betty was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Clinton, Dean, Leon, George and Donald.
In addition to her daughter, Paula, she is survived by a brother, B. Dale Dawes, of South Williamsport; her granddaughter, Jennifer Tyler-Huber, of Portland, Ore.; as well as many nieces and nephews from this area and around the country.
At Betty’s request, no services will be held.
