James L. Stroble
James L. Stroble, 68, of 829 Country Club Dr., Williamsport, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at his home, with his wife by his side.
He was born October 3, 1945, in Williamsport, the son of LaRue and Emma Goodrich Stroble.
James was a Vietnam Navy Veteran, and had worked for Sonny’s Auto Body Shop and Adams Auto Alignment.
In 1974, while working at Adams Auto Alignment, James was involved in a horrific explosion, which had a significant impact on the rest of his life.
He was a founding member of the original Williamsport Corvette Club, and was a member of the National Corvette Museum.
James enjoyed boating, corvettes were his passion, and he loved his grandchildren and his dogs, Ciara and Sandy.
He was predeceased by his father and granddaughter, Kendra Bybee.
James is survived by his mother, of Muncy; his wife of 35 years, the former Suzanne Velott; two sons, Darryl E. Stroble and James L. (Jennifer) Ellis, both of Williamsport; two daughters, Michelle (James) Bybee, of Lebanon, Tenn., and Shawn R. (Bill) Gatz, of Montgomery; a sister, Susan (Lonnie) Schultz, of Muncy; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Lycoming S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701, or to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
