Robert E. Walker

Robert E. Walker, 81, of 256 Park Ave., Lock Haven, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, at his home.

Born on Sept. 23, 1932, in Monument, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Martha Weaver Walker.

Robert was a 1953 graduate of Lock Haven High School. After graduating he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was married to the former Marsha J. Kennedy, who preceded him in death.

Robert worked for Woolrich Woolen Mills before being employed at Piper Aircraft until its closing. He then worked in the construction department at Avis America.

He was a member of the Woolrich Community United Methodist Church.

In his earlier years, Robert was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman. He was also a huge sports fan, rooting for Penn State, the Steelers and the Pirates.

Robert was also a member of the Woolrich Square Dance Club.

He enjoyed attending all of the grandchildren’s sporting events and loved spending time with the families and relatives.

Robert is survived by a daughter, Julie (Andy) Weaver, of Rote; a sister, Shirley Walker, of Altoona; two grandchildren, Frankie Probst and Holden Whitehead; his lifetime companion, Nancy M. Karichner, of Woolrich; and his extended family, Stan (Sue) Karichner, of Idaho, Scott (Marla) Karichner, of New Jersey and Sue (Paul) Andrus, of Jersey Shore. Robert was known as “Pappy Bob” or “Bob” to his grandchildren, Kris Wright and Amy Henry, of Jersey Shore, Sean and Dillon Karichner, of Idaho, Amber and Josh Karichner, of New Jersey and Kala and Karli Weaver, of Rote. He was “Pappy” to his great-grandchildren, Devany, McKayla, Brayden, and Carter. Robert was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Bruce, Calvin, Betty Jane, Clifford, Richard, Verna, Harry, Harvey, Anna Mae and his identical twin brother, Ralph.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Woolrich Community United Methodist Church, 1080 Park Ave., Woolrich. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Marcus Mills will officiate.
