Edward M. DeParasis

Edward M. DeParasis, 81, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2014.

Born on Feb. 11, 1933, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Edward and Maria Poretta DeParasis. Edward and his wife, Marie Randello DeParasis celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Prior to his retirement, Ed owned and operated Mid-Town Sub Shop for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed cooking and entertaining. He took great pride in his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He made many friends while working at the Sub Shop and was known for his happy whistling. His generous and caring ways will be greatly missed.

Ed served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Korean War Veterans, Knights of Columbus, Sons of Italy Lodge, Young Men’s Republican Club and the Red Chimney Hunting Cabin.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Marie are daughters, Maria Patrick (John), of Williamsport, Constance McFadden, of Williamsport, Renee’ Neikens (George), of Harrisburg, Laura Farr (Brian), of Montgomery; a daughter-in-law, Nancy DeParasis; Grandchildren, Autum, Adriene and Adam Deparasis; Julia, Robert and Luke Derr; Richard McFadden, Nicole Neikens; Raymond and Analese Farr; Shanna Abernatha and Autumn Brooks; and six great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is his sister, Amelia Rinker, and brothers, Orlando, Vittorio, Joseph and Silvio.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Edward DeParasis III, and brother, David DeParasis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Father Brian VanFossan officiating.

Viewing will be held at Crouse’s, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, on Monday June 23, 2014, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
