Maurice R. ‘Dick’ Daniels

Maurice R. “Dick” Daniels, 86, of Williamsport, passed away at ManorCare Health Services North on Tuesday, July 15, 2014.

Dick was born in Williamsport, on July 12, 1928, the son of Felix and Sophia Gohrig Daniels.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish where he served as an altar server for many years, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus council 366 and a 4th degree member of the Father Reichsteiner assembly. Dick was a life member of the Keystone League, a member of The Young Men’s Democratic Club, TPA and an avid fan and member of The Notre Dame Club.

Dick retired from Williamsport Area School District. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, coin collecting and model trains.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former M. Sylvia Geiger; children, Patricia (Brian) Everly, of Philadelphia, Duane (Tina) Daniels, of Montoursville and Barbara (John) Brown, of Bensalem; five grandchildren, Amanda, April, Jack, Matthew and Daniel; and a brother, Don Daniels, of South Williamsport.

In addition to his parents, a son, Kenneth Daniels, and a brother, Teddy, preceded him in death.

The family will receive family and friends at the portico of the church from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Friday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Parish on Friday at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
