Betty E. Tompkins
Betty E. Tompkins, 88, of Williamsport passed away Thursday afternoon at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg. She was born March 1, 1926, in Roaring Branch, a daughter of Henry Clay and Cora Belle Tule Williams. She retired from Sylvania Corp of Montoursville after 20 years of employment. She was a member of the DuBoistown United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, playing cards and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford L. Tompkins, whom she married Aug. 27, 1949. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this Wednesday. She is further survived by one daughter, Pamela K. Humphrey, of Scio, N.Y. along with two grandchildren, Gregg Aldinger and Stacie Spence. She is further survived by four great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Alissa and Isabella Aldinger and Kaleigh Spence. She was predeceased by her siblings, Monroe, Daniel, Galen and Irvin Williams and Alma Carson and Elizabeth Weiss.
Betty’s Life Celebration will begin with a visitation on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd., “A Life Celebration Home,” 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2014 with the Rev. John Baney officiating. Interment will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.
