Mary Louise Hamm

Mrs. Mary Louise Hamm, 95, long time South Williamsport resident, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at the Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville.

She was a member and communicant of the Saint Lawrence Roman Catholic Church of South Williamsport.

Born Dec. 12, 1918, at Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late George and Margarett MacNamara Huffman.

She was the widow of the late Joseph John Hamm who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1980. Together they shared 40 years of marriage. They were married on June 20, 1940, in the Saint Lawrence Roman Catholic Church at South Williamsport.

Mary Louise was a graduate of the Class of 1936 of the South Williamsport High School and was also a graduate of the Williamsport Commercial College in 1939.

Mary Louise was a member and past president of the Altar & Rosary Society of the Saint Lawrence Catholic Church. She was one of the founders of the Little League Auxillary where she had served as treasurer. She was a member of the DuBoistown Garden Club for more than 50 years since she joined in 1959. She was also a member of the South Williamsport Senior Citizens at the Messiah Lutheran Church at South Williamsport.

Surviving are her sons, Joseph (Jackie) Hamm, of South Williamsport, David (Yvonne) Hamm, of Montoursville, Steve (Chris) Hamm, of Pittsburgh, Thomas (Doreen) Hamm, of New Market, Md.; her nine grandchildren, Karen Stugart, Kathleen Rider, Cynthia Sullivan, Brent Hamm, Brenda Ho, Steve Hamm, Mike Hamm, Tom Hamm, Thomas Hamm; and a stepgranddaughter, Annette O’Palka. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her late parents and her late husband, she was preceded in death by her late sister, Veronica Huffman Headings.

The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Saint Lawrence Roman Catholic Church with the Father David W. Bechtel, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Saint Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport, from 8:30 until the time of the service. Interment will immediately follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.

The family will provide the flowers and respectfully declines to receive floral tributes and respectfully suggests that contributions in memory of Mrs. Mary Louise Hamm, may be made if so desired to the Saint Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, PA. 17701.
