Wanda A. Langdon

Wanda A. Langdon, 92, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Muncy Valley Hospital, Muncy. Born in Franklin Township, Lycoming County, on the family farm (a “century farm,” in the Farnsworth name since 1950). She was the daughter of M. Kay and Alta I. Farnsworth. It was on the farm that she acquired her enduring strong work ethic and her love of the outdoors. She became a resident of Bound Brook, N.J., and married Robert H. Langdon, a lifelong resident of that town, on Aug. 25, 1946. Robert predeceased her in 2003 and she continued to live at her High Street home until 2012 when she moved to Wolf Run Village Assisted Living in Hughesville.

Mrs. Langdon graduated from Hughesville High School and then received a B.S. teaching degree from Bloomsburg College. During her professional career, she taught at South Bound Brook, Middlesex and Franklin Township elementary schools. She retired from Franklin Township, N.J., in 1985 after teaching second grade for many years. She loved teaching geography, her favorite subject.

She joined the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church in 1946 where she served over the years as a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon. The church was a center for Wanda and her family. Wanda served this church and its congregation served her. Mrs. Langdon was also a long term member of the Eastern Star Lodge and the Women’s Literary Club. She enjoyed yard sales and taking fresh garden tomatoes to her neighbors. Mrs. Langdon loved nature and caring for her flower and vegetable gardens. Wanda was a great letter writer, communicating with her children, grandchildren and their spouses, as well as friends.

Surviving are two sons, J. Howard Langdon, Esq., and his wife, Rachel, of Muncy, and LtCol (USMC Ret.) Loren K. Langdon and his wife, Willa, of Townsend, Del. and twin daughters, Elaine L. Crovelli and her husband, John, of Flemington, N.J., and Professor Carla D. Langdon, of Jersey Shore. Wanda had five grandchildren, Kevin, Heather, David, Colin and Bryan and six great-grandchildren, Ephraim, Joel, Caleb, Jane, Anna and Hugh.
