Betty L. Wesner

Betty L. Wesner, 91, of Susquehanna Trail, Watsontown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at her home.

She was born Oct. 5, 1924 in Muncy, the daughter of the late Luther and Ivy (Dykens) Rothfuss. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, G. Fred Wesner.

Betty graduated from Muncy High School in 1943 and had worked at the State Correctional Institute in Muncy for a number of years. Later she was employed as the office and finance manager at Larry Heron, Inc.

She and her husband were well known for breeding excellent German Shepherds and her love for them was evident to everyone.

She was a past-president of the Roland Ritter Post No. 268 American Legion Auxiliary; vice-president of the Veterans Auxiliary in Muncy; former member and past-president of the church council at the former Messiah Lutheran Church, McEwensville; and treasurer of the former Lutheran Brotherhood Branch and AAL Branch. Recently, she was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, rural Watsontown.

Betty was an avid Penn State and Warrior Run High School athletics fan. But her family, nature and the love of God were the most important and cherished things in her life.

Surviving besides her husband are her children, Jill Roman, Montoursville; Sheri Kisner, Millville; Bill (Linda) West and Greg Wesner, all of Watsontown; a stepson, Dave Wesner, Lewistown; a daughter-in-law, Ann West, Georgetown, Delaware; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved by many nieces, nephews, and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard “Dick” West; a stepson, Kennard Wesner; sisters, Jane Buck and Ada Mae Knauff; and brothers, Ray and Max Rothfuss.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to honor the life of Betty at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 10275 State Route 44, Watsontown.
