Nick S. Mondell
Nick S. Mondell, 87, of Montoursville, died Oct. 25, 2016, at The Gatehouse in Divine Providence Hospital. He was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Avis, the son of James and Lucy (Gallo) Mondell.
Nick retired as a barber in Muncy and also had worked in Montoursville and Williamsport. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was active in the church parish council and the church catering. He was also a member of Eugene Grafius American Legion Post No. 104, Sons of Italy, Loyalsock Mens Club, 40 & 8 Club and was a social member of the Montoursville Fire Department. Nick also coached Little League Baseball and was a Boy Scout Master.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years the former, Lucy Arduini; sons, David (Joanne) and Stephen (Kathleen); and four grandchildren, Angela, Lisa, Ryan and Maria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Michael McCormick as celebrant. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the honor guard of the Lycoming County Korean War Veterans. There will be no visitation.
