Ruth E. Davis

Ruth E. Davis, 91, of Cogan Station, went to be with her Lord Thursday, October 20, 2016, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harry M. Davis on October 30, 2009.

Born June 16, 1925, in Wilmington, Del., she was a daughter of the late William A. and Martha E. (Long) Meisel.

Ruth was employed as a sewing machine operator at the former Wundies and retired in 1992.

Ruth was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Quiggleville and a church member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She was also a member of the Gold Star Class and Trout Run Senior Citizens. Ruth had a passion for music and was an organist for many years. She also loved the outdoors and hunting.

Surviving are a son, Robin L. Davis; a daughter, Charlene R. Artley (Thomas), both of Cogan Station; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Luther, of Cogan Station, Robert, of Sanford, Fla., and Ernest Meisel, of Muncy.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy L. Davis; a daughter-in-law, Holly Davis; four brothers, Charles, William Jr., Norwood, and Harold Meisel; and two sisters, Estella Fink and Sara Riddell.

A funeral service to honor the life of Ruth will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 24 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 1877 St. Michael’s Road, Cogan Station. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 23 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport and Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church 1433 Locust Street, Jersey Shore, PA 17740.
