Victoria P. Barlet

Victoria P. Barlet, 93, of Williamsport, died Friday, October 7, 2016, at the Williamsport Home.

Born February 18, 1923, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late George Victor and Pauline (Shaffer) Penman.

Victoria was a 1941 graduate of Williamsport High School, where she was the drum major for the Marching Millionaires. Victoria graduated from State Beauty School and she was a beautician and owner of Tory’s Beauty Shop on Memorial Avenue for over 40 years. Early in her life she enjoyed figure skating, camping, swimming and trips to the beach. She also enjoyed crafts, puzzles, reading and playing bingo. She was a peer counselor at the Williamsport Home.

Surviving are three daughters, Tory Allen (Richard) Whitmyer of Trinity, Fla., Peggy Allen (David) Bross of Cogan Station, and Robyn Allen (Richard) Hoover of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.

Victoria was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Pearson Allen; her second husband, Francis Morgan Barlet; a sister, Helen Penman Romesberg; and a sister, Margaret Penman Brown.

Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, at St. John’s-Newberry United Methodist Church 2101 Newberry St. Williamsport, a memorial service to honor Victoria’s life will be follow visitation at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating.  Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Victoria’s name may be made to the Williamsport Home 1900 Ravine Road, Williamsport, or St. John’s-Newberry UMC, or SouthernCare Hospice 1544 East Third St. Williamsport, PA 17701.
