Carolyn W. ‘Carrie’ Barnhart Blain

Carolyn W. “Carrie” Barnhart Blain, 86, of Montgomery, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 at her residence. Born in Johnstown, Cambria County, on Monday, Dec. 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Sawyer and Martha (Fisher) Clark.

Carrie was the widow of Roy W. Blain who preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2013. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene A. Barnhart, on Aug. 13, 2000.

Carrie was a graduate of Bellefonte High School. She was last employed as the head librarian at the Montgomery Area Public Library. She had also been employed by Rochelle Furniture at Montgomery and Bryfogle’s at Washingtonville.

Carrie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She was an avid genealogist, enjoyed painting in oil, writing poetry, knitting and especially enjoyed raising animals and gardening on her farm. She was a member of the Montgomery Area Historical Society and the Lycoming County Genealogical Society. She will be greatly missed.

Carrie is survived by six sons, Les and wife Lou Anne Barnhart, of Williamsport; Jim Barnhart, of Montgomery; Tom and wife Joann Barnhart, of Montgomery; Andy Barnhart, of Montgomery; Ben and wife Robin Barnhart, of Friendsville, Tenn; John Barnhart, of Penhook, Va.; and her constant companion, Tootsie. In addition to her husbands, Carrie was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Clark, and one granddaughter, Jasmine Barnhart.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, at 10 A.M. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, with Bishop Brian Brinkerhoff officiating.  Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Montgomery Area Public Library, 1 S.
